- ST. LOUIS - The Cardinals are back home and one victory from the World Series. Up 3-2, they start rookie Michael Wacha against Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw in Game 6 of the NLCS. Game starts 8:37 p.m.

- BOSTON - The Red Sox return to Boston on Saturday with a chance to close out the Detroit Tigers in Game 6 of the ALCS and reach the World Series for the first time since 2007.

- The recent outbreak of the infectious disease MRSA in Tampa Bay is a reminder that NFL player safety issues lurk in the corners of the locker rooms, along with the middle of the field.

- SAN ANTONIO - Abby Wambach's marriage to partner and professional teammate Sarah Huffman instantly made the soccer star the highest-profile athlete in the debate over same sex-marriage.

- DURHAM, N.C. - Freshman phenom Jabari Parker gets his first chance to show off in a Duke uniform during the "Countdown to Craziness," an annual night of fun before the Blue Devils get down to business.
