GREELEY, Colo. (AP) Colorado Rockies co-owner Charlie Monfort pleaded guilty to driving under the influence Friday and was sentenced to two years of supervised probation during which his alcohol use will be monitored.

The plea stemmed from his arrest on Nov. 4 in Windsor where police say he was pulled over and found to be driving with a breath alcohol concentration level more than three times the legal limit.

During the first six months of his probation, Monfort will have to wear an ankle bracelet that can detect alcohol use and then submit up to two breath tests a day, said Pamela Johnson, a spokeswoman for the Weld County district attorney's office. He will also have to undergo alcohol treatment and perform 120 hours of public service.

Monfort was also sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to driving while ability impaired following an arrest in Greeley in 1999. Police said he had a 0.209 blood-alcohol level, more than double the legal limit at the time.

The Tribune (http://bit.ly/1crXjtm) reported that Monfort has been in alcohol treatment for the past two months. Monfort's lawyer, Thomas Grant, told the judge that Monfort's latest arrest was a "turning point" that finally pushed him to get help.

Outside court, Monfort said he was "deeply remorseful" and that "every day is a battle" with alcohol abuse.

"I am deeply sorry for my actions," he said.
