A San Antonio middle-school student could be suspended for having a haircut with the image of San Antonio Spurs player Matt Bonner, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.
Patrick Gonzalez of Woodlake Hills Middle School told FOX station KABB that he has been a fan of Bonner "ever since I can remember" the Times said.
The Spurs currently lead the Los Angeles Clippers 1 game to 0 in the Western Conference semifinals.
"My first period teacher called the principal. She told her it was a distraction," Patrick told KABB of the reaction he received when he arrived at school with his new haircut, the Times said.
The Times said that Rose Gonzalez, Patrick's mother, had asked school officials for permission before he got the haircut.
"I didn't want any kind of problems with any of the principals. I know there are rules and regulations anywhere else you go," she said.
But the school denied having given their OK.
"There was no permission that was given. If the parent thought that, then it was a miscommunication," said Aubrey Chancellor of the Judson Independent School District, according to the Times.
"I'm mad. I thought we had permission," Patrick Gonzalez said, according to the Times.
Patrick also said he will shave his head so that he will not be suspended.
