EDITOR'S NOTE: This is the second in a three-part series that spotlights three 49ers-Packers matchups to watch Sunday, 1:25 p.m. (FOX-TV), at Lambeau Field.

Matchup No. 3: Anthony Davis vs. Nick Perry
Matchup No. 1 (coming Sunday morning)

Tale of the tape:
Davis: 6-foot-3, 250 pounds, seventh season, Maryland
Woodson: 6-foot-2, 202 pounds, 15th season, Michigan

Remember this guy named Vernon Davis? With all the talk about wide receivers Randy Moss and Mario Manningham joining Michael Crabtree on the outside, it's easy to forget the 49ers' top weapon in the passing game is still their tight end.Davis had a difficult time adjusting to the new scheme last season. Late in the year, offensive coordinator Greg Roman observed that everything was beginning to click for Davis. The results showed on the field, as he finished strong and then was dominant in two playoff games. The Packers expect Davis to pick up where he left off as Alex Smith's favorite target. And that is why they'll mostly assign their best defender to cover him.MAIOCCO: Rodgers could be in 49ers jersey on Monday
Woodson, who enters his 15th NFL season, tied for the league lead last season with seven interceptions to earn his fourth consecutive and eighth career trip to the Pro Bowl. Officially, he moves from cornerback to safety. Unofficially, he does everything the Packers need him to do. And because he's the only player on the Packers' defense who can match up with Davis, that will be a large portion of his assignment."I think he could play corner, safety and nickel," Roman said. "Really when you look at their nickel or dime defense, he can play any position in their dime defense. Rather than waste time wondering, we've just got to play football. He's that talented (and) that knowledgeable a player that we're fully expecting him to play multiple positions."
