49ers place Dobbs on injured reserve

The San Francisco 49ers placed utility man Demarcus Dobbs on the injured reserve List Tuesday.

Dobbs' season is over after he was injured in the first half of Sunday's win against the Miami Dolphins. The second-year 49er was on the ground as a group of teammates tackled the Dolphins' return man when a wayward body bent his leg back awkwardly. He left the field with each arm supported, though he did seem to be putting weight on his injured leg.

Dobbs participated this weekend after he missed the team's game in St. Louis. He was arrested on his 25th birthday on Nov. 30 for suspicion of drunk driving and possession of marijuana following his involvement in a single car accident.

Dobbs has played in 12 games and registered seven tackles for the 49ers this season.
