SANTA CLARA – The 49ers on Tuesday claimed defensive lineman Zach Moore off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys.

Moore appeared in one game for the Cowboys this season after playing a total of nine games the past two seasons with New England in 2014 and Minnesota in 2015.

The 49ers placed running back Carlos Hyde on injured reserve to make room for Moore. Hyde sustained an MCL sprain in his left knee on Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams. The injury will not require surgery. Hyde becomes the 49ers' 18th player to finish the season on injured reserve.

Hyde’s season ended 12 yards shy of the 1,000-yard mark. Hyde finished the season with 988 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 217 attempts for a 4.6-yard average. He also caught 27 passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns.

Moore (6 foot 6, 280 pounds) was a sixth-round draft pick of the Patriots in 2014 after playing collegiately at NCAA Division II Concordia University of St. Paul, Minnesota.
