SANTA CLARA -- Outside linebacker Aldon Smith, who sustained a right hip bruise in the 49ers' exhibition opener Aug. 10, was back in pads on the practice field Monday.Smith who spent much of last week on crutches looks as if he has a strong chance to get playing time Sunday in the 49ers' exhibition game at the Denver Broncos.Tight end Delanie Walker also returned to the practice field after missing a week after sustaining a right knee injury in the team's open practice Aug. 12 at Candlestick Park.Running back LaMichael James, who sustained a left ankle sprain Saturday night against the Houston Texans, attended practice but was not in pads. Running back Brandon Jacobs (left knee) was on crutches Monday. He could be available for the team's regular-season opener at Green Bay, coach Jim Harbaugh said.Outside linebacker Ahmad Brooks (left leg) and cornerback Perrish Cox (leg), both of whom sat out Saturday's game, returned to practice on Monday.
