High school days
Jaquiski Tartt attended Davidson High School in Mobile, Alabama. Tartt had 72 tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble in his only season playing football in high school.
Tartt redshirted his initial season at Samford and did not see action until 2011 when he recorded 23 tackles in 10 games. In his sophomore season, he started all 11 games at free safety and was a member of the Southern Conference's first team. He led Samford with 94 tackles and four interceptions and was a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, which goes to the top defensive player in all of Division I-FCS football.
In his junior season at Samford, Tartt had 98 tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown. He started 12 games and was named first team All-SoCon and an All-American for the second straight season. Tartt played in 11 games his senior year and recorded 62 total tackles and one interception.
Headed to San Francisco
With the 46th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected Jaquiski Tartt. Tartt was the 49ers' second pick of the draft after they chose Arik Armstead in the first round.
