Harbaugh: What York, Baalke know ‘could not blow up a small balloon'

Jim Harbaugh is opening up more and more about the true nature of his time working for 49ers owner Jed York and former general manager Trent Baalke.

A day after Harbaugh's brother-in-law, Tom Crean, was fired as the University of Indiana's men's baskeball coach, Harbaugh opened up to Sports Illustrated.

“Much like my situation in San Francisco, the people that are doing the micromanaging," Harbaugh said."When it comes to building a ball team, what they know could not blow up a small balloon. In my case, an owner and a general manager. In his case, an administration. They are so similar in that way. And he still wins two Big Ten championships outright.”

Harbaugh's comments come weeks after the Michigan head coach said he deserved an endurance or courage medal for lasting as long as he did under 49ers management in a podcast told the Mercury News' Tim Kawakami.

Harbaugh’s teams advanced to the NFC Championship Game in each of his first three seasons, including a Super Bowl appearance. He and the 49ers “mutually parted ways,” the club announced, immediately after the team finished with an 8-8 record in 2014.
