Justin Smith, Crabtree sit out practice

SANTA CLARA -- Receiver Michael Crabtree will miss his fifth consecutive practice with a right leg injury he sustained during the team's first practice session.Crabtree and defensive end Justin Smith were not suited up to take part in practice as the team went through stretching drills prior to Thursday's afternoon workout. Smith had a wrap on his right knee. The 49ers are scheduled to practice from 2:30 to 5:10 p.m.
Crabtree was in uniform for the team's Thursday morning walk-through practice. Offensive coordinator Greg Roman declined to discuss Crabtree's timetable for recovery. The 49ers generally do not disclose information on injuries.Rookie guard Joe Looney, who was activated this week after undergoing offseason surgery to repair a foot fracture, was not in full pads. He has yet to take part in any offense vs. defensive contact drills.
The 49ers' first exhibition game is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 10, against the Minnesota Vikings at Candlestick Park. Crabtree did not play in any exhibition games in his first three seasons in the NFL.
