Practice report: Edwards sits, Snyder suits up

SANTA CLARA -- Receiver Braylon Edwards was not on the field at the beginning of 49ers practice on Wednesday, as it appears possible the club will give him a week to rest his ailing knee and shoulder.Meanwhile, right guard Adam Snyder made an unexpected return after sustaining a left hamstring strain that limited him to 18 snaps Thanksgiving night against the Baltimore Ravens.Edwards suggested Monday that he could benefit from taking some time off to ensure that he is healthy for the playoffs. He was not in uniform on the practice field Wednesday. Edwards missed four games this season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to repair torn cartilage in his right knee. He has also been limited the past three weeks with a left shoulder injury.
Snyder made a quicker-than-expected return after sustaining a hamstring injury Thursday. He was in full pads on Wednesday during the portion of practice that is open to the local media.Fullback Bruce Miller has been cleared to return to practice after sustaining a concussion Nov. 20 against the Arizona Cardinals. Running back Frank Gore was at practice wearing sweat pants. He might be limited at practice after being banged-up in recent weeks with minor ankle and knee injuries.
