RB Johnson accepts 49ers' practice squad proposal

SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers signed former Boise State running back Ian Johnson to their practice squad on Monday. The 49ers released running back Xavier Omon from the practice squad.
Johnson spent training camp this summer with the Detroit Lions. During the exhibition season, Johnson carried 36 times for 130 yards. Johnson has spent time on the practice squads of Minnesota, Arizona and Detroit. He originally signed with the Vikings in 2009 as an undrafted rookie.

Johnson is best-known for scoring the winning two-point conversion for Boise State in the Broncos' memorable 43-42 victory over Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl.Following the game, Johnson proposed to his girlfriend, Chrissy Popadics, Boise State's head cheerleader, on national television. They were married six months later.
