Former 49ers defensive lineman Bryant Young is reportedly expected to be hired to the Atlanta Falcons’ staff as defensive line coach.

Young is set to replace Bryan Cox, who was fired as defensive line coach, ESPN.com reported.

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn coached Young with the 49ers. Young served under Quinn as defensive line coach at Florida in 2011 and ’12. Young resigned from the Florida coaching staff in 2013 to spend more time with his family.

In October, Bryant and Kristin Young’s son, Colby, passed away more than two years after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. Colby was 15 years old.

Bryant Young played 14 NFL seasons, all with the 49ers. He was named to four Pro Bowls and was a first-team All-Pro in 1996. He is the 49ers’ all-time sack leader with 89.5.

Young won the Len Eshmont Award eight times as the 49ers player who best exemplified inspirational and courageous play.
