The 49ers are scheduled to interview Atlanta offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan on Friday, a league source told CSNBayArea.com.

Los Angeles, Jacksonville and Denver will also interview Shanahan for their head-coaching vacancies Friday and Saturday, the NFL Network reported on Monday.

Shanahan, 37, is the son of former NFL coach Mike Shanahan, who was a candidate for the 49ers’ head-coaching job a year ago. The Falcons own the NFL's second-ranked offense in total yards under Shanahan's direction. Quarterback Matt Ryan was the league's top-rated passer with 38 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The 49ers have started their search for a coach and general manager to replace Chip Kelly and Trent Baalke, whom 49ers CEO Jed York fired over the weekend.

The 49ers are also expected to interview with New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels this week and Buffalo interim head coach Anthony Lynn, though no interviews have been scheduled, according to a source.

Both Shanahan and McDaniels can interview for head-coaching jobs this week while their playoff teams have a bye week.

Other known candidates to replace Chip Kelly are Seattle offensive line coach Tom Cable, Miami defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, and Jacksonville interim head coach Doug Marrone.

Interviews with Cable and Joseph must wait for at least a week as their teams are set to play in the wild-card round.
