Lou Amundson has informed the Warriors that he will exercise his player option for the 2011-12 season -- and return to the team. Amundson signed a two-year, 4.6 million contract last summer, with the second year being worth 2.4 million. The move was not unexpected. Warriors owner Joe Lacob indicated earlier in the week that the team was operating under the assumption Amundson would return. Amundson, a power forward, averaged 4.3 points and 4.0 rebounds in 46 games last season for the Warriors.Amundson certainly didn't have a bad season, but it wasn't good, either. He missed the first 20 games because of a fractured index finger, then missed a handful of games later on because of back spasms. In addition, Amundson was never all the way in coach Keith Smart's rotation.Mark Bartelstein, Amundson's agent, said earlier in the week that Amundson was excited about the Warriors' coaching change, and that Mark Jackson would seem to be the kind of coach who values what Amundson brings.
