Theres really only one word to describe the whole GilbertArenas saga: sad.

Arenas is one of the NBAs most likable players, but itsobvious he just doesnt get it, and that became even more clear in recent days.

NBA commissioner David Stern suspended Arenas indefinitelyand without pay on Wednesday.

The suspension wasnt because Arenas broughtfirearms into an NBA arena, although that will be dealt with in time.

No, the suspension was for Arenas actions in recent days, which led Stern to conclude that (Arenas) is not currently fit to take thecourt in an NBA game.

Over the past week, Arenas has joked about the incident onTwitter.

During pregame introductions in Philadelphia on Tuesdaynight, Arenas formed guns with his thumbs and index finger and pretended toshoot while he was surrounded by teammates.

That apparently was the last straw for Stern, whoacknowledged that he had been prepared to allow the legal process to play out like hes always done in cases like these -- before determining any punishment.

As a rookie with the Warriors in 2001, Arenas was asrefreshing an athlete as youll ever find. He was spontaneous, honest and zanyand it made him a favorite among fans.

Well, that was a long time ago and Arenas is older now. Justnot any more grown up.
