ARLINGTON -- Injured starting pitcher Brett Anderson took to the field and completed his first throws since suffering a right oblique strain in Detroit on September 19. Anderson made 35 throws, 20 from 60 feet and 15 from 75 feet. "No issues," he said after he finished.

Anderson threw mostly flat footed and never grabbed for his oblique or looked uncomfortable. He threw as long as most of his teammates who were warming up for the game. When he finished throwing he spoke with pitching coach Curt Young and then signed some autographs for fans assembled down the left field line. The A's are cautiously optimistic the young lefty can make his return some point in the postseason, but everything will have to go perfectly for that to happen.Anderson won his first four starts upon returning to the rotation after a 14-month layoff after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He is 4-2 with a 2.57 ERA in six starts this year.
