Cespedes leaves game with strained left hamstring

OAKLAND -- Yoenis Cespedes was forced to leave Thursday's game in the first inning with a strained left hamstring. The team is calling him day-to-day.

The injury appeared to occur as he rounded second base and headed to third on Seth Smith's RBI single. As he got to third, he grabbed his left hamstring and bent over at the waist.As the throw came in from the outfield Cespedes appeared to be approaching third base rather slowly. Had the ball not been cut off, he might have been out at third.He left the game with Bob Melvin and an A's trainer. Cespedes left Monday's game with left knee pain after hitting a double in the bottom of the eighth inning. He was able to play the next day.Cespedes missed 22 games with a left hand strain earlier this season. The A's struggled mightily without him. They didn't win a single series in his absence. He is 7-for-12 this series with two doubles, a triple and a home run.
