Yoenis Cespedes' heroics in Minnesota earned the Cuban slugger his first American League Player of the Week honor of his career.

With only three games played this week due to the All-Star Game, Cespedes collected eight hits, including a double and two home runs, drove in six runs and scored five.

Cespedes becomes the second Athletic to win Player of the Week honors after Brandon Moss picked up the award on June 18. He had two hits each in wins on Friday and Saturday, then went 4-for-5 in Oakland's sweep-clinching 9-4 win on Sunday. Both home runs and all six RBI came in the final two games of the series.

In his rookie season, the 26-year-old outfielder is hitting .283 with 11 home runs and 42 RBI in 57 games.
