Instant AnalysisJonny Gomes returns to the lineup as the DH. He hasn't started a game since May 30. He came in as a defensive replacement last night after Yoenis Cespedes felt some knee pain. It is also interesting to note that yet again, Coco Crisp is riding the pine with Cespedes in center field. Yesterday A's manager Bob Melvin said that he was playing the hot hand with Cowgill. He insisted that Crisp is still a big part of this team. Top of the OrderJemile Weeks appears to be recovered from the injury scare on Saturday. Collin Cowgill now has a seven-game hitting streak. Cowgill is being given a chance to succeed with the A's, and he is rewarding them for their loyalty thus far. Heart of the OrderJosh Reddick and Yoenis Cespedes are in their familiar three and four spots in the lineup. It is a good sign to see Cespedes back in the lineup, because around these parts injuries tend to result in the worst-case scenario. Both Melvin and Cespedes said after Monday's game that he should be OK, after experiencing left-knee pain. Bottom of the OrderAdam Rosales is starting at shortstop over Cliff Pennington. It is a mild surprise because Pennington broke out of a 0 for 29 slump on Monday. He was 2 for 4 with a single and an RBI double.
