The Oakland A's offered arbitration to free agents Josh Willingham and David DeJesus, the team announced in a media release Wednesday. Both outfielders have to accept or decline Oakland's offer by Dec. 7. Willingham, 32, set career highs with 29 home runs and 98 RBIs in his first season with the A's.

Under Major League Baseball's new Collective Bargaining Agreement, if Willingham, a Type A free agent, declines arbitration and signs with another team, it will not cost that team its first-round draft pick.Instead, the A's would receive the pick just ahead of Willingham's new team's draft slot. In addition, Oakland would receive a sandwich pick.DeJesus, 31, had a down year in his first season with the A's, batting .240 -- a career low -- with 10 home runs in 131 games. The A's acquired DeJesus from the Royals last offseason for Vin Mazzaro and Justin Marks.
