A's recall Ross, Sogard; Ka'aihue clears waivers

OAKLANDThe As made a flurry of roster moves Saturdaybefore their game against the San Diego Padres, recalling pitcher Tyson Ross forthe days starting assignment along with infielder Eric Sogard. To clear room on the roster, the As optioned pitcher Evan Scribner andinfielder Adam Rosales to Triple-A Sacramento. The club also announced thatfirst baseman Kila Kaaihue, designated for assignment on June 6, has clearedwaivers and will join the River Cats.Ross, a Bishop ODowd and Cal Berkeley product, will start his second stint inOakland this season Saturday against the Padres, who rank second wortst in the National League with a .230team batting average.Ross was originally recalled on April 17, when the As first needed a fifthstarter, and went 2-6 with a 6.51 ERA in nine starts. After being demoted onMay 31, Ross went 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA with the River Cats.
