Quakes' Johnson Makes Jamaican National Team

SAN JOSE, Calif.The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that forward RyanJohnson has been named to the roster for the Jamaican national team for theirupcoming match against SouthAfrica. The Reggae Boyz will take onthe host nation of the 2010 World Cup in Frankfurt, Germany onWednesday at 11:30 a.m. PT.

Johnson scored hisfirst goal for his country back on Feb. 10 against Argentinawhen he scored early to give Jamaicathe lead. The 2009 season was a breakout year for Johnson, his second with San Jose. He led the teamin goals with 11 in 30 appearances. Johnson started a career high 27 games andtook home the teams most valuable player award.Sofar this season,the Jamaican international has started all four games for the Quakes atforwardand had a very successful preseason. Johnson scored twice in during SanJoses three game trip to London, when they trained at club partnersTottenham Hotspur training ground, Spurs Lodge. He had the game-winnersagainstEnglish Premier League side West Ham United and four days later againstMLSside Colorado Rapids.
