Quakes trade McDonald to D.C. for allocation money

The San Jose Earthquakes traded defender Brandon McDonald to D.C. United for allocation money, the team announced Monday.

In 58 career games with the Earthquakes, McDonald scored three goals and had three assists. A former University of San Francisco Don, McDonald signed with San Jose on March 20, 2009 after the L.A. Galaxy released him.

The Quakes' next game is on July 2 against the New York Red Bulls. The game will be televised on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area at 7:30 p.m. from Stanford Stadium.
