ANAHEIM -- A's relief pitcher Brian Fuentes told CSNCalifornia.com that he has had a discussion with manager Bob Geren following Monday night's scathing comments about Geren's managerial skills.

"I feel better about it," Fuentes said. "We communicated what he expects from me and now everything's out in the open."

Fuentes, though, would not go into more detail about the specifics of the conversation or his role in the bullpen going forward.

Fuentes and Geren spoke at the team hotel in Anaheim.

Following Monday night's loss to the Angels, Oakland's sixth consecutive defeat, Fuentes was openly critical of Geren.

Asked how he felt the manager has handled the long-time closer as a relief pitcher, Fuentes said, "Pretty poorly."

Then asked how much communication he's had with Geren, Fuentes said Monday, "Zero."

So why is the communication so poor?

"There's just no communication," he said. "Two games, on the road, bring in the closer in a tie game with no previous discussions of doing so. And then, tonight in the seventh inning, I get up. I haven't stretched. I haven't prepared myself. If there was some communication beforehand I would be ready to come in the game -- which I was, when I came into the game."
