END OF 1ST: 49ers 7, Rams 0
At the end of the first quarter, the 49ers led the Rams, 7-0. Carlos Hyde scored the team's first touchdown of the season. Hyde plugged his way in for an 11-yard score with 3:18 left in the quarter.
Case Keenum dropped back and tried to hit Todd Gurley over the middle, but Quinton Dial batted the ball up in the air and NaVorro Bowman came down with it in the early stages of the second quarter. It was just Bowman's fourth INT of his career.
Draughn into the end zone
After running back Carlos Hyde ran into the end zone, it was time for his running mate Shaun Draughn to join him. Draughn stiff armed his way to a three-yard touchdown. The 49ers took a 14-0 lead over the Rams with the score.
HALFTIME: 49ers 14, Rams 0
The 49ers dominated the Rams in the first half to the tune of a 14-0 lead. Blaine Gabbert went 12 of 18 for 80 yards through the air while Carlos Hyde led the 49ers with 65 yards rushing and a touchdown on 10 carries. Newcomer Jeremy Kerley was San Francisco's top receiver with 38 yards on four catches.
The 49ers intercepted Case Keenum for a second time as they continued to frustrate the Rams' quarterback. Ray-Ray Armstrong jumped the route and grabbed his first pick of the season near the end of the third quarter.
END OF 3RD: 49ers 14, Rams 0
In a quarter where the 49ers' offense was stagnant, their defense continued to step up. The 49ers shut down the Rams once again in the third quarter as they took a 14-0 lead into the fourth quarter.
Blaine Gabbert hit Vance McDonald for his first passing touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter. McDonald hauled in an eight-yard toss for the TD. After Phil Dawson's extra point, the 49ers went up 21-0 on the Rams.
Rams captain and All-Pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald was ejected in the fourth quarter Monday night. While the Rams and 49ers got into a scuffle, Donald was seen choking Quinton Patton and then made contact with a referee.
Twice as nice
Carlos Hyde notched his second touchdown with a one-yard run in the fourth quarterback. Hyde finished up with 88 yards and two scores on 23 carries in his first game of the season.
FINAL: 49ers 28, Rams 0
The 49ers opened up the 2016 regular season with a 28-0 win over the Rams. Blaine Gabbert completed 22 of 35 for 170 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. The 49ers also gained 150 yards on the ground compared to the Rams rushing for just 83.
