Giants manager Bruce Bochy met with pitcher Barry Zito Wednesday, and in his pregame meeting with the media, Bochy informed the press that it's likely that Zito would pitch for the Giants on Tuesday, in one of the the team's doubleheader games with the Chicago Cubs.

When asked about the corresponding roster move when Zito is activated, Bochy was noncommittal but remained open to the option of carrying 13 pitchers.

REWIND: Giants' Zito throws shutout for Grizzlies
Out of the 'pen?: If he does start on Tuesday, it would be seven days of rest for Zito. Bochy indicated that it is possible he would use Zito out of the bullpen in the next few days.

In Madison Bumgarner's last start in which he lasted just a third of an inning and ceded eight runs, he threw 25 pitches. Because of the low pitch count, Bochy also said it is possible that Bumgarner could come out of the bullpen before his next start.

Torres Pressing: Giants CF Andres Torres is not in the lineup against a right-handed pitcher Wednesday, significant because Torres is better batting lefty against righties. Bochy said Torres is "pressing," and he will be given a couple days off.
