Andres Torres' wife, Soannie, past away last Wednesday evening from cancer.

The funeral was on Tuesday, and Giants broadcaster Duane Kuiper spoke on KNBR 680 on Wednesday morning.

"My brother and I went to the memorial for Soannie Torres -- Andres Torres' wife who passed away -- and I just wanted to let everybody know that it was a wonderful memorial," Kuiper said. "It was at St. Matthew's in San Mateo. Very touching, as you can imagine ... for those Giants fans who maybe didn't know that this had happened to the Torres family -- our thoughts and prayers go out to them."

Andres Torres played for the Giants from 2009 to 2011 and in 2013.

He won the Willie Mac Award in 2010.

"I'm also very proud of our Giants organization for showing up and showing their respects," Kuiper added. "Look, Andres Torres is not a Hall of Famer. He was a journeyman. Had a great year when they won the World Series, but yet had such an impact on this organization and this city.

"It was quite an impressive show from the Giants and their organization to show up and stand by this guy that everybody really adores...

"It was very sad but on the other hand, also very uplifting to see all those who attended."
