The Giants currently have three rotation spots secured in Madison Bumgarner, Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija. After that, it's a mystery.
To fill out the final two spots, the front office has said Chris Stratton, Ty Blach, Tyler Beede, and Andrew Suarez will compete for jobs. But all four have limited to zero innings in the major leagues. For a team looking to compete, the Giants surely want more experience.
The Giants are signing Derek Holland to a minor league deal, Bobby Evans confirmed to NBC Sports Bay Area on Friday. Holland has passed his physical and Evans says he will compete for a rotation or bullpen job.

Holland, 31, spent 2017 with the Chicago White Sox. The lefty struggled in his first season away from the Texas Rangers, going 7-14 with a 6.20 ERA.
Over his nine-year career, Holland has compiled a 69-64 record and a 4.57 ERA. Holland also has plenty of experience pitching in the playoffs and has appeared in four World Series games.
