While starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner hit his third home run of the season, catcher Tim Federowicz went deep for the first time in over three years on Sunday.
What the two did in Giants history is much stranger. For just the second time in team history, a starting pitcher and his replacement in the lineup each hit a home run.

The only other duo to do so was Livan Hernandez and Bill Mueller on July 28, 2000.
Federowicz replaced Bumgarner in the order in the bottom of the sixth inning in the Giants' 7-3 loss to the Cardinals. He hit his first homer of the year in the bottom of the eighth, a solo shot over the left field wall.
Bumgarner unloaded on a ball for a 420-foot shot in the bottom of the fourth inning. The slugging starting pitcher now has 17 career home runs.
