The Giants can add another injury to the list as Buster Posey was forced out of Tuesday game in Colorado after taking a foul ball off his right hand.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, with the Giants trailing 8-6, DJ LeMahieu fouled a ball off that hit Posey directly in his exposed right hand.

Posey jumped up in immediate pain and ran all the way around the pitchers mound before being met by the trainer.

Posey was removed from the game and replaced by Tim Federowicz.

After the game, manager Bruce Bochy provided an update on his catcher.

"He had X-rays. They were negative. He has a contusion on the fourth finger of the right hand. It swelled up pretty good right when it happened. So that's good news. X-rays were negative," Bochy told reporters in Denver.

About 30 minutes after the game concluded, Posey told reporters that the swelling had already gone down.

"That's probably the hardest foul tip to the hand I've had. I've been pretty lucky," Posey told reporters.
