Baffled by Syndergaard
Joe Panik and the Giants were unable to figure out Noah Syndergaard, who held San Francisco without a hit through 5.2 innings Wednesday. Denard Span collected the first hit of the game for the Giants.
With Denard Span at second base in the sixth inning, Brandon Belt crushed a ball to center. But Curtis Granderson raced back and made the catch before crashing into the wall for the final out of the inning.
Pagan beats the throw
With two outs and a runner on first, Angel Pagan hit a slow roller to the right side and managed to beat Noah Syndergaard to the base for an infield hit.
