SAN FRANCISCO -- Nick Noonan, Edwin Escobar, Jake Dunning, Chris Heston and Juan Perez were all added to the Giants' 40-man roster Wednesday, protecting them from being selected in the Rule 5 draft.

The Giants announced the move Tuesday evening and San Francisco's roster now stands at 35 players.

Noonan, an infielder selected in the first round of the 2007 draft by the Giants, is considered the top prospect of the five after posting a .296.347.416 line with the Fresno Grizzlies this season. The Southern California native also hit nine home runs and drove in 62 runs.

Other than being protected from the Rule 5 draft, every member of the 40-man roster, including the five newest additions, will receive an invite to major league spring training.
