Adventures in the outfield
Dodgers outfielders Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp misplay a ball hit by Gregor Blanco in the top of the third inning, allowing the Giants' center fielder to scamper all the way to third base. Kemp was charged with the error. Joe Panik, the next batter, put down a safety squeeze to bring Blanco home and give the Giants a 2-0 lead.

After Matt Kemp's error allowed Gregor Blanco to get to third base, Giants second baseman Joe Panik laid down a safety squeeze to make the score 2-0.
Crawford breaks the seal for Dodgers
Dodgers entered the bottom of the fifth without a hit, but Carl Crawford changed that quickly, connecting on a solo home run to cut the Giants' lead to one.
Dodgers pull even
After Crawford's home run, Juan Uribe doubled and moved to third on a single by A.J. Ellis. After Dan Haren sacrificed Ellis to second, Dee Gordon brought Uribe home with a sacrifice fly to left field.
Puig nails Belt at plate
The Giants threatened to take the lead in the 11th, but Yasiel Puig made a spectacular throw from center field to cut down Brandon Belt, who was trying to score from second on a Brandon Crawford single.
Giants take the opener
The Giants scored three runs in the 13th inning to emerge with a 5-2 win over the Dodgers in the opener of the pivotal three-game series in Los Angeles.
