Krukow tips his hat to Dodgers; highlights one concern for their team

The Dodgers re-signed Rich Hill last week.

And they reportedly agreed to deals with closer Kenley Jansen and third baseman Justin Turner on Monday.

"I don't think anybody that follows the National League West was thinking that they're gonna go into April, thinking that the Dodgers are not gonna have a pretty good team," Mike Krukow said on KNBR 680 on Tuesday. "They brought them all back and they're gonna be a good team. They're gonna be a presence all year long.

"I don't think it's any surprise at all ... I don't think it's a big deal. The pressure is on the other teams to keep getting better, to keep plugging up your weaknesses. And teams in the National League West are doing it, and certainly what the Giants have done with the addition of Mark Melancon. It shapes up to be a great summer. I love it."

Jansen went 3-2 with a 1.83 ERA last season and was tied for second in MLB with 47 saves.

"I was hoping he was gonna go to Japan," Krukow joked. "Are you kidding me? But I just didn't think that he was gonna go anywhere else. They needed him. They had to have that guy. He's that good. He's their guy and they developed him, and I think in the end he wanted to go back there, too. That certainly is no surprise."

The Dodgers knocked off the Nationals in the NLDS before falling to the Cubs in the NLCS.

They have won the NL West four straight years, and made the postseason in 1995, 1996, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2009.

But Los Angeles hasn't reached the World Series since 1988.

"The one thing about that team, the Dodgers, is they got some age on them," Krukow said. "They realize they have to go for it right now ... they're going for it now. So I tip my hat to them. They're going for it."
