Andrew McCutchen turned in a hitless night in New York Tuesday, going 0-for-4 in the Pirates' 6-0 loss to the Mets and lowering his league-leading batting average to .334.

McCutchen still clings to a .001-point lead over Giants catcher Buster Posey prior to the Giants' Tuesday night game in which Posey is batting fourth.

Posey owns a .333 average going into Tuesday night's contest. He will face left-handed pitcher Wade Miley.

Posey, who owns a .413 average against lefties this year, is also in a race for the NL MVP Award, along with McCutchen and reigning champion Ryan Braun.
