Buster Posey made an uneventful third start this spring, going 0-for-2 in at-bats against Chris Volstad and Scott Maine in the GiantsCactus League game against the Chicago Cubs Tuesday.Posey started at catcher and hit cleanup and got his first chance against theright-handed Volstad with Pablo Sandoval on first and two outs in the bottom ofthe first inning.Posey took two balls from Vostad to get ahead early, but rolled over the thirdpitch for a routine ground ball for Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro.

Against Chicagos left-handed reliever Maine, Posey swung at a breaking balland weakly bounced it to second baseman Darwin Barney for the second out of thefourth inning.Despite remaining hitless after five spring at bats so far, Posey is happy withhis progress.Posey allowed a Starlin Castro stolen base in the third inning, but cant beblamed for the theft. His throw was on line, just late because of a great jumpby Castro.Manager Bruce Bochy replaced Posey at catcher in the top of the fifth inning,as he explained he would do on Monday. Bochy also said Monday that Posey wouldserve as his designated hitter for Wednesdays game against the ClevelandIndians.
