Report: Sergio Romo took ‘significantly less' money to join Giants' rivals

Sergio Romo has spent his entire MLB career with the Giants, and has three World Series rings to show for his time in San Francisco. But the right-handed reliever will reportedly be a member of the division opponent Los Angeles Dodgers next season, and he reportedly turned down more money elsewhere to join the Giants' rivals.

Romo, 33, will receive $3 million plus incentives next season, but he "took significantly less" than he could have earned to join the Dodgers, according to Jon Heyman, who cited Romo's desire to stay on the West Coast.

The Tampa Bay Rays also made Romo an offer and the Yankees made a late push, according to MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez.

Romo went 32-26 with a 2.48 ERA and 84 saves over nine seasons with the Giants.
