Report: Stanton concerned about Giants' lack of depth

Giancarlo Stanton wants to win. The 28-year-old has never played in the postseason. While Stanton's not a free agent able to pick his next destination, the biggest name on the hot stove has power with a no-trade clause.

The Giants have been strongly connected to Stanton, but there may be an issue. Stanton is reportedly unsure of the Giants' future, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports

Stanton appears to be concerned with the Giants' chances of turning things around after their atrocious 2017 season with their lack of star power behind Buster Posey and Madison Bumgarner. Posey turns 31 in March and Bumgarner will be 29 on Aug. 1.

In 2017, the Giants finished 64-98 while the Marlins ended at 77-85, good for second place in the National League East.

When looking at the Giants' farm system, Stanton could understandably be cautious as well. Going into the 2017 season, Baseball America ranked the Giants as the No. 24 farm system in baseball. Rankings have not yet been updated.

And midway through the season in July, only left fielder/first baseman Chris Shaw was named in Baseball America's Top 100 at No. 86.

Stanton is the biggest fish in the offseason sea, and his contract, which still holds 10 years and $295 million, plus his opt-out clause, will only complicate things for teams pursuing the NL MVP.
