Ventura pays tribute to Taveras
Royals starter Yordano Ventura wrote a tribute on his hat to Oscar Taveras, the Cardinals outfielder who died in a car crash in the Dominican Republic over the weekend.
Pence gets Giants' first hit
With one out in the top of the second, Hunter Pence doubled down the right field line. He was stranded there as Brandon Belt struck out and Michael Morse flied out to the warning track in right.
Royals take early lead
Alex Gordon and Salvador Perez led off the bottom of the second with singles and Mike Moustakas followed with a double to drive in Gordon, giving the Royals a 1-0 lead.
Peavy last just 1.1 IP
Peavy struck out Omar Infante, but Alcides Escobar reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases and Nori Aoki singled to left to give the Royals a 2-0 lead. Bruce Bochy immediately pulled his starter and called on Yusmeiro Petit. Peavy's final line: 1.1 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 2K.
Royals blow Game 6 open
Lorenzo Cain greeted Petit with a single to right center to drive in Alcides Escobar and Mike Moustakas. cain moved to second on a wild pitch, and Eric Hosmer doubled in Nori Aoki and Cain. Billy Butler followed with a double to drive in Hosmer to give the Royals a commanding 7-0 lead after two innings.
Cain knocks in Infante
The Royals made it 8-0 in the third inning when Lorenzo Cain drove in Omar Infante with a ground rule double to left.
Royals go up 9-0
Omar Infante led off the bottom of the fifth with a single and came around to score on a double to deep left by Alcides Escobar, giving the Royals a 9-0 lead.
Strickland gives up another HR
Mike Moustakas led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo home run off of Hunter Strickland, making it 10-0 Royals. It was the sixth home run the rookie reliever has given up this postseason.
Giants routed in Game 6
The Giants managed just six hits in their Game 6 loss to the Royals. Wednesday's probables: Tim Hudson vs. Jeremy Guthrie. First pitch is scheduled for 5:07 p.m. PST.
