OAKLAND – Baseball Hall of Famer and former Athletic Rollie Fingers has been named a Special Assistant to the President, the Oakland Athletics announced today.

“As we celebrate our 50th anniversary season, it is only fitting Rollie joins us as an A’s ambassador,” said Oakland A’s President Dave Kaval. “He is one of the greatest players to ever wear an Oakland jersey and an essential part of our history and tradition.”

"I am excited to be part of the 50th Anniversary Team. I can’t believe that it’s been that long since I put on an A’s uniform as a player in 1968,” said Rollie Fingers. “I look forward to working with the club and connecting with our fans.”

Fingers joins Rickey Henderson and Dennis Eckersley in alumni ambassador roles. He will help advise the club and represent the team at community and fan events.

Fingers, along with the other members of the A’s 50th Anniversary Team, will be honored before the Opening Night game on Friday, March 30. Fans can purchase tickets to the game online at athletics.com, over the phone by calling 1-877-493-BALL (2255), or in person at the Oakland Coliseum Gate D Box Office. Fans can lock in the best seats at the lowest price by purchasing a 2018 ticket plan. Plans are available by calling 510-638-GO A's (4627).
