Veteran cornerback Vontae Davis, whom the Indianapolis Colts released in November, is reportedly scheduled to meet with the 49ers in Santa Clara on Tuesday.

Davis, 29, the brother of former 49ers tight end Vernon Davis, is a nine-year NFL veteran. He appeared in just five games for the Colts last season. The Colts released him in November after he opted for season-ending surgery to correct a nagging groin injury.

Davis has already visited Buffalo and Cleveland, ESPN reported.

Davis has 22 career interceptions in 120 NFL games. He played his firist three seasons with the Miami Dolphins before a 2012 trade to the Colts. He was named to the Pro Bowl after the 2014 and '15 seasons.

The 49ers are in need of strengthening their cornerback position. Ahkello Witherspoon had a promising rookie season.

The other starter from last season, Dontae Johnson, struggled late in the season and is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent.
