Harry Giles returns to Kings after big night in G League

SACRAMENTO -- Harry Giles is back. At least for now.

The Kings announced Monday morning that they have recalled the 6-foot-10 power forward from their G League affiliate after just one game with the club.

The 20-year-old big made his lone appearance with the Stockton Kings on Sunday, dropping in 30 points and four rebounds in 23 minutes of work. It was a chance to stretch his legs and get some much needed time as a primary scoring option.

“It was fun just to go out there and compete first off and play and just have some things go your way,” Giles said following shootaround Monday morning. “I got some touches and got a rhythm out there. It was a lot of fun.”

Going to the G League isn’t what any young player wants. But with a crowded front line, minutes have been sparse for the former Duke star. He took the move in stride and went out and produced big numbers for Stockton.

“That’s not my decision to make - do I go there or not,” Giles said. “I just do what I’ve got to do. Just play hard and keep getting better. Whatever happens happens.”

The Kings haven’t laid out the plan for Giles, but there’s a possibility he’ll see court time on Monday evening when the Kings face off against the San Antonio Spurs. Veteran Kosta Koufos is listed as out for the contest with right calf soreness.
