Cal Central: What new stadium and a top receiver can do

Share

A new season is always exciting. At Cal, a new stadium makes it even more so.

"Our players are really excited to get back home," said Cal coach Jeff Tedford.

And the biggest attraction at the new stadium happens to be one of the top wideouts in the nation, Keenan Allen.

"I know everybody wants to see ballers out there," said Allen. "And receivers are supposed to be ballers.

"Anticipation is definately high, not just for me but for the team. We're ready to come out there and prove ourselves, and I feel like we're going to shock the world."

With Allen, Cal winning the Pac-12 North wouldn't exactly shock the world, but it would be a significant step forward for a team trying to get back among the conference elite. Coach Jeff Tedford pointed out that there is a fine line between six, eight and 10 wins, but he thinks this year's team has the pieces in place to be at the high end of that spectrum.
