The California Golden Bears received a No. 12 seed in the Midwest Region and will open up the NCAA Tournament against fellow No. 12 seed, the South Florida Bulls.

The game will be played in Dayton, Ohio on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. PST, with the winner taking on the No. 5 seed Temple Owls.

Cal finished in second place in the Pac-12 behind the Washington Huskies, and fell in the semifinals of the Pac-12 Tournament to eventual champion Colorado.

The Bears last appeared in the tournament in 2010 where they were seeded No. 8, and won their opening round game against Louisville.

They lost to the eventual national champion Duke Blue Devils in the Round of 32.

Cal has not advanced to the Sweet 16 since 1997.

The Bears won the national championship in 1959 when they were led by legendary coach Pete Newell.
