Cal's Allen expected to miss multiple weeks with PCL injury

Cal wide receiver Keenan Allen will miss Friday's game against Washington with a left knee injury, head coach Jeff Tedford announced Thursday.

"He has a PCL," Tedford said. "So it's probably a two- to three-week recovery for him."

The PCL is the posterior cruciate ligament. The injury calls for rest, not surgery.

The Bears have just three games remaining on the regular season schedule.

"We'll have to see (if he can play again this season)," Tedford said. "We have to see how he recovers. We're not going to put him in jeopardy by any means."

Tedford said Thursday that Allen hurt his knee in a loss at Utah last Saturday.Allen leads the Golden Bears (3-6, 2-4 Pac-12) with 61 catches for 737 yards and six touchdowns this season. Allen is the all-time leading receiver at Cal with 205 catches in three seasons. His 2,570 yards receiving rank third all-time and he has caught a pass in all 33 games he has played. The Associated Press contributed to this report
