Famed in the Bay Area at just three years old for Giants first baseman J.T. Snow saving him from chaos at home plate as a bat boy in Game 5 of the 2002 World Series, Darren Baker is looking to pave his own path on the diamond.

Darren, the son of then Giants manager Dusty Baker, signed his National Letter of Intent to play basesball at the University of California, Berkeley on Thursday. On Instagram, Darren celebrated the signing with a picture of he and his father as he signed and the caption, "Dreams do come true."

Cal baseball welcomed Darren with a congratulatory tweet saying, "Another future Golden Bear is @DarrenBaker_12! Welcome to the #CalFamily #GoBears."

Darren is in his senior year at Jesuit High School in Carmichael. Listed at 5-foot-11 and 155 pounds, Baker is known for his speed at second base. He runs a 6.63 60-yard dash, which ranks him in the 94.55 perentile in the Class of 2017, according to Perfect Game.

Last season, Baker hit .386/.448/.435 with 39 hits and 30 runs scored for the Marauders. He also stole 16 bases in 19 attempts and only committed two errors.
