DALLAS BRADEN AND KARA TSUBOI JOIN NBC SPORTS CALIFORNIA’S A’S BROADCAST TEAM

Braden to Provide Analysis for 100 Games Across Multiple Platforms

Tsuboi to Serve as Sideline Reporter for Select Home Games

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – January 10, 2018 – The Oakland Athletics (@Athletics) and NBC Sports California (@NBCSAuthentic), “Home of the Authentic A’s Fan,” today announced that former A’s pitcher Dallas Braden (@DALLASBRADEN209) has joined the broadcast team as a baseball analyst.

Braden will be featured in 35 telecasts as a color commentator and 54 games in the newly created role of field analyst, reporting from a unique vantage point close to the action.  He will also continue in his role as a studio analyst for select A’s Pregame Live and A’s Postgame Live shows.

Longtime in-stadium host Kara Tsuboi (@karashotcorner) will also join the broadcast team as a sideline reporter for a limited number of home games.

“Dallas’ presence at nearly every home game in this newly created role will provide a dynamic perspective that fans have not seen before. We are excited to welcome a lifelong A to the broadcast team,” said A’s President Dave Kaval.

“Dallas Braden provides a rare combination of deep baseball knowledge, passion for the game and love for the green and gold.  He has a true connection with A’s fans, and we’re looking forward to seeing him in a much more substantial role in 2018,” said David Koppett, VP of Content Strategy for NBC Sports California.

Ray Fosse, a 33-year broadcasting veteran and multiple Emmy Award-winner who played in the majors for 12 seasons, won two World Championships (1973, 1974) with the A’s, along with two Gold Gloves (1970, 1971) and played in two All-Star Games (1970, 1971), remains NBC Sports California’s primary A’s analyst.

Braden, a Stockton native, spent five seasons with the A’s (2007-2011). On May 9, 2010, he pitched the nineteenth perfect game in MLB history when he defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in Oakland on Mother’s Day. Braden pitched for Stagg High School in Stockton, then went on to play at Texas Tech University. He was drafted by the A’s in 2004 and made his debut with the club in 2007. After his playing career, Braden worked at ESPN (2014-2017) as a studio analyst and color analyst.  Prior to the 2017 MLB season, he joined NBC Sports California as a studio analyst for the network’s signature shows A’s Pregame Live and A’s Postgame Live.

Tsuboi will be joining the broadcast team during select home games during the 50th anniversary season. She has been a member of the Athletics family since 2009, serving as the in-stadium host for home games. Tsuboi will continue in her prior role when she is not part of the NBC Sports California broadcast. Prior to her time with the A’s, Kara served as a technology reporter for CNET and CBS Interactive.

Wildcard winner New York Yankees (May 11, 12, 13; September 3, 4, 5).  A’s interleague action includes the six-game Bay Bridge Series versus the San Francisco Giants (July 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22.)

National networks will air the remaining scheduled A’s games, so that all 162 games will be available in the Bay Area.

In addition to the 147 regular season games, NBC Sports California will air two spring training games, one against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday, March 15 at 7 p.m. and one versus the Giants on Sunday, March 25 at 1 p.m.

NBC Sports California’s A’s telecasts feature the Emmy Award-winning broadcast team of Glen Kuiper (play-by-play) and Ray Fosse (color analyst).  As previously announced, former A’s pitcher Dallas Braden (@DALLASBRADEN209) will be featured in 35 telecasts as a color commentator and 54 games in the newly created role of field analyst, with Braden reporting from a unique vantage point close to the action.  He will also continue in his role as a studio analyst for select A’s Pregame Live and A’s Postgame Live shows.  Longtime in-stadium host Kara Tsuboi (@karashotcorner) will join the broadcast team as a sideline reporter for a limited number of home games.

Prior to each game, fans can catch the latest team developments, interviews with players and coaches and in-depth game previews on A’s Pregame Live. Immediately following the game, A’s Postgame Live will give viewers an in-depth game breakdown with stats and highlights, clubhouse interviews and a preview of the next game.  The shows are anchored by veteran sportscaster Brodie Brazil (@BrodieNBCS), with analysis from former A’s players Dave Stewart, Dallas Braden, Bip Roberts and Shooty Babitt.

NBC Sports California offers live in-market streams of A’s games to NBC Sports California subscribers, along with its game-day shows A’s Pregame Live and A’s Postgame Live, via NBCSportsCalifornia.com and the NBC Sports app.  The live in-market streaming service is available at no additional cost to authenticated NBC California subscribers on mobile, tablet and desktop devices.  For more information about the network’s streaming service, click here.
