Jennifer Click – Edison High School

Share

Mrs. Jennifer Click developed an interest in teaching while studying chemistry at Fresno State. She has always loved school and admired her former teachers. Mrs. Click decided to pursue a career she could love. She began her profession as an intern at Edison High School in 2010. In the past eight years, Mrs. Click has taught physics, chemistry, and advanced placement chemistry. She has been actively involved in the professional teaching community in her high school, school district, Fresno State, and at the national level.

Mrs. Click is passionate about students and reaching them where they are both academically and personally. How can students learn if they feel uncomfortable in their skin? With this philosophy in mind, she founded the E-City Pantry Club three years ago which focuses on hygiene and community outreach. Since its creation, the club has donated thousands of personal hygiene packs to local schools, community centers, and shelters. E-City Pantry high school students taught lessons to over 500 kindergartners this year in their area about dental hygiene in a campaign called Tiger Smiles. Her club is also expanding to include high school students tutoring and mentoring elementary school students in the next few months.

In the classroom, Mrs. Click believes that all students can learn and that it is simply a matter of finding the best path to get them there. Students describe her as interactive, organized, passionate, and enthusiastic. Mrs. Click creates activities and tasks that are engaging, complex, and relevant. There is always a connection to the real world and students see how what they are learning is significant. There is never a dull day in chemistry! Whether through launching mole rockets or investigating coral reefs, Mrs. Click encourages curiosity and discovery in class.
Mrs. Click loves learning. She can’t get enough of school! She is currently in graduate school earning a Master’s of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction at Fresno State. While she does her homework, she also helps out her children with their learning. Mrs. Click is a mother to three children and is raising them to be scientists themselves.

If Mrs. Click is fortunate enough to win the All-Star Teacher Award, she plans to use the funds to expand the community outreach of E-City Pantry through high school students becoming more involved in tutoring and mentoring younger children, providing hygiene and personal items for shelters, and focusing on community service projects.
