SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – March 28, 2017 – NBC Sports Bay Area today announced that former San Francisco Giants players and fan favorites Matt Williams, Cody Ross and Javier Lopez have joined the network as studio analysts. They will provide analysis and commentary for the network’s signature programs Giants Pregame Live and Giants Postgame Live. In addition, NBC Sports Bay Area has named Dave Feldman and Ahmed Fareed as the new co-anchors for Giants Pregame Live and Giants Postgame Live.
“We’re very excited about the new direction of our Giants coverage,” said David Koppett, Vice President of Content Strategy for NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California. “Pairing our premier anchor team of Feldy & Fareed with three new analysts who are true Giants and Bay Area heroes will take our signature Giants programs to a new level."
One hour prior to the game, fans can catch the latest team developments, interviews with players and coaches and in-depth game previews on Giants Pregame Live. Immediately following the game, Giants Postgame Live will give viewers an hour-long game breakdown with stats and highlights, clubhouse interviews and a preview of the next game.
Williams, Ross and Lopez will join former Giants and NBC Sports Bay Area analysts Jeremy Affeldt, Rich Aurilia, Shawn Estes, Tim Flannery, Bill Laskey and Randy Winn. Giants Pregame Live and Giants Postgame Live will feature a four-person broadcast team – two analysts and new co-anchors Feldman and Fareed.
Williams, a five-time All-Star and World Series champion (2001), hit 378 home runs and had 1,218 RBI in his 17-year MLB career. After his playing career, Williams provided color commentary for Diamondbacks radio and television broadcasts. In 2014, Williams was the manager of the Washington Nationals and won the NL Manager of the Year Award.
Ross was a key member of the Giants 2010 World Series championship team. As the starting right fielder for the 2010 playoffs, he went on to win the NL Championship Series MVP after hitting .350 with six extra-base hits (three home runs, three doubles). Ross also had a .950 slugging percentage in the six-game NLCS. He played for the Giants for two seasons (2010-2011). A 12-year MLB veteran, Ross also played for the Detroit Tigers (2003), Los Angeles Dodgers (2005-2006), Cincinnati Reds (2006), Florida Marlins (2006-2010), Boston Red Sox (2012), Arizona Diamondbacks (2013-2014) and Oakland A’s (2015). In February, he joined the Giants as a spring training instructor.
Lopez, a four-time World Series champion (2007, 2010, 2012, 2014), helped the Giants (2010-2016) win three World Series during his time as a relief pitcher for the club. One of the top lefty specialists in the game, Lopez finished his 14-year MLB career with a 3.48 ERA and 358 strikeouts. He also played for the Colorado Rockies (2003-2005), Arizona Diamondbacks (2005), Boston Red Sox (2006-2009) and Pittsburgh Pirates (2010) before being traded to the Giants in the 2010 season.
